The Kern River is a river rafter's jewel located in Southern California in the heart of Sequoia National Forest near Bakersfield northeast, and 2+ hours from Los Angeles. These California rafting trips along the major sections of the Kern River include the Lower Kern River, below Lake Isabella, the Upper Kern, above the lake and the world-famous Forks of the Kern run.
The Tuolumne River, just west of Yosemite National Park, is an easy 140 mile drive from the San Francisco Bay Area. The Tuolumne is a Class IV+ slalom course for rafters with rapids of escalating intensity. This “Wild and Scenic” river thunders and plunges through a grand succession of boulder gardens and spectacular cascades, with stunning granite boulders and blue-green waters. A non-dammed river, the Merced offers exciting rafting trips during the high water typical of May and early June calming to gentler flows during the lower flows of late June and July. With steep slopes covered in wild flowers, the beauty of the Merced River canyon is simply inspirational.

The Lower Kern Two day trip is the most popular trip we run on the Kern. This exciting run starts with Class III rapids and moves on to a long, continuous Class IV section. We run this trip every day with groups up to 30 people. This trip offers a wonderful sample of the Lower Kern River for folks who lack the time for a full day trip but would like to experience the beauty of the river. The trip is usually run on a Class III section of the Lower, however it is sometimes run on a Class IV stretch depending on water conditions. Either way, it is a convenient and fun way to grab a taste of the Lower Kern River. The 1/2 Day Lower meets at 1:00pm and returns around 5:00pm.
This action packed four hour trip launches at 8:00am, 11:00am, and 3:00pm. There is no lunch provided, and. . .no time for lunch! Participants get an action-packed taste of the Upper Kern and time left over for a round of golf at the local course or an afternoon icy-cold micro beer at the Kern River Brewering Company.
The Double Lickety Split is the most affordable and easiet trip we offer on the Kern River. This two hour, Class III trip has the youngest minimum age (5 years) of any trip we offer on the Kern and a budget concious base price of $65/person. The Double Lickety trip launches daily at 11:00am.
