White Water Rafting South Carolina

The Chattooga River in South Carolina originates at the base of Whiteside Mountain in the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina, flowing southwest and bordering South Carolina and Georgia.

Chattooga River rafting offers something for ever rafter with Class II to Class IV+ action. One of the wildest and most beautiful whitewater rivers in the country, the Chattooga was the first river in the Southeast to be designated "Wild & Scenic" by Congress and was the river showcased in the movie Deliverance.

The Chattooga River is the longest undammed river in the southeast. The Chattooga’s white water rafting season runs typically from March to early November. The Sumter and Chattahoochee National Forests offer stunning surroundings as you bounce through the rapids of this free flowing river. The highest water levels and most exciting Chattooga River rafting trips are usually in the Spring and early Summer with late Summer and Fall trips being more relaxed and slower paced on lower flows.
